Like many artists, I find it a little difficult to write about/promote myself. Really, I just want to “make stuff” and let the rest take care of itself. Unrealistic but true. Sooooo…here’s the facts, short and sweet:
I teach photography and digital media (digital art, animation and the like) at an all girls high school. I couldn’t ask for a better job. I work with amazingly talented people, and my students are incredible. Plus I get to do what I love all day long…
I also teach at Squeaky Wheel/Buffalo Media Resources, a not-for-profit media art center here in Buffalo. It’s an awesome organization with a great educational outreach program. I’m a workshop instructor and taught a program called “techARTS for Girls” for many years. TechARTS is an amazing community action project that encourages younger girls to learn about and use computers to make art. Working with the incredible people at Squeaky Wheel gave me the confidence to learn film and video, believe in my artwork, and to teach others.
I have a degree in media communications, but most of the skills I use in my artwork and photography have been self-taught. I’ve been a graphic designer for many years, and also do freelance design work, music photography and merch. I’m also working on a photography book and designing a deck of Tarot cards, and there are always other projects I’m in the midst of.
Music is an essential part of my life. I don’t think I could live without it. I feel very blessed to be a contributing photographer to several online music magazines, and I shoot as much live music as I possibly can.
As you can see by the photo to the right, I’ve pretty much had a camera slung around my neck since I was a little kid – and apparently my llama-love goes back that far as well.
So there you have it…Please poke around on the site if you have the urge, and feel free to email with questions or comments any time.
