Four New Light & Bright Designs Inspired by My Bhakti Yoga Practice

New Yoga Designs
Well, technically there are 5, but we’ll talk about that later…

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve posted anything on this blog (busy, busy), but I wanted to write a little bit about the inspiration for this artwork. For the last several years I have been practicing Bhakti yoga. Bhakti is is one of the four main yogic paths to enlightenment. Bhakti means “devotion” or “love” and this path contains various practices to unite the bhakta (Bhakti Yoga practitioner) with the Divine. It is considered the easiest yogic path to master and the most direct method to experience the unity of mind, body and spirit. Bhakti comes from the word “Bhaj” which means ‘to be attached or devoted to’. It is pure unselfish love mixed with reverence.

An integral part of of the practice of Bhakti Yoga is mantra meditation, or chanting. There are 2 types of chanting; Japa, which is private prayer and mantra repetition, and Kirtan, which is the singing of mantras with others. Both are meant to focus the mind on the repetition of the mantras as well as the divine sound vibration created. Practicing Bhakti has radically changed my life in a very positive way. New Design – Electric Buddha

Electric Buddha-web

This is another piece from my Electric Art series. The artwork in the electric series starts with inked illustrations and then comes to life with the brightest and most saturated coloring possible.

I’ve wanted to draw a Buddha design for a long time now, and I think I’m pretty happy with the results! I used Micron and Copik pens to ink in the original design and then scanned the drawing. I added the color and textures digitally. It’s been a labor of love so I hope you enjoy it

Below are some examples of the products available with this design.

Just click the store name in the description to get to the products!

New Design This Week: Electric Angler Fish

These sea creatures go by many names; Black Devil, Bearded, Humpback, and Leafvent, to name a few. Whenever I’ve read about them I’ve always been enthralled by how they’ve evolved in the depths of the ocean, such beautiful yet horrifying creatures with the ability to light their own way and attract food at the same time. That’s why they were next in line for my Electric Art series. It’s a continuation of my hand drawn and inked process which I digitally edit at the final stage. I’ve been hooked on sea critters for a while now.

This new piece, and the entire Electric Art series can be found at the links below. Enjoy!

New Designs on Board Shorts

I’ve started designing some fun board shorts for Shortomatic.  I love textile design, plus I get to make my favorite Day of the Dead skulls into wearable art!  There are also some psychedelic, fractal and retro surf designs in the store so far – but there are more to come.  The shorts come in men’s and women’s styles and sizes. And what’s next? Well, bikinis of course!

Ode to Summer

Well, I thought before summer is over that I should post some summer fun images and products, so here are a couple that you might like. The surfer photo was shot in Venice Beach, and the paddle boarder at Treasure Island Beach, Florida. The images have been added to products on Zazzle, as well as Fine Art America so just click on the image to get to the product in my stores.

Fine Art America offers framed prints, canvas prints, acrylic prints and greeting cards that are customizable.
This piece is titled “Walking on Water”.
